The one major difference between practicing interior design as a profession and doing it for yourself is the ability to make decisions. I can make clear, concise, confident decisions for my clients all day long but when it comes to my own house it is painstakingly difficult. Who knows why.
From the very beginning of this project, when we first saw the house actually, I knew I wanted to use vinyl tile for the kitchen floor because I thought it was a material that may possibly have been used during the era it was built.. Of course, once it was purchased and ready to be installed I started questioning that decision. Ken talked me through it, told me to stick with my gut, and he was right. Although we did have a close call, we were “this” close to installing the wrong white. I saw it online and thought it was right but decided to hold up the install a by a weekend so I could look at the other options in person. Turns out there was actually a better white which is what we ended up using.
Robert says it reminds him of a laundromat…but that’s exactly what I love about it
MUCH better white, IMHO. Good job. I’m not seeing the laundromat effect. Maybe I’m just lucky to have enjoyed happy plumbing in my life, for the most part.
I appreciate your comment that it’s basically easy to make decisions when it’s not yours. I’ve seen you be able to just say ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ in a flash, while I wallow. !! Shew! I know, it’s not easy! But that’s all part of the fun!! XO
oh yeah, stick with your gut. PERFECTION again!
ken was home for the weekend while the house was tented for termites. he hurried back to Meebhouse this morning and sent me this text:
“WORKER BEE IS BACK ON SITE AND BUZZING AWAY”
yes, it reminds me specifically of an art deco laundromat, a rarity in these days of mint green and peach laundromats. love it love it love it
the sink is pretty happenin’ too btw
Looks good!!
