The Powder Room. Possibly one of the most fun rooms in any house to decorate. It’s sort of a no holds barred kinda thing. It’s the one room where you can do something crazy and it’s totally and completely acceptable. So I’m putting wallpaper in mine. It’s back, it’s better than ever and I’ve been dying to use it in my own space (hasn’t really been an option thus far for my apartments).
Let me know which out of the selections below is your fave. Keep in mind there will be some sort of wainscot (tile, wood??) detail all around the room stopping at about 42″ high and a black and white 1″ hexagonal floor.
Leaning towards the lovebirds but it might be too busy. How about the one across from them? Or the same pattern in the pastel blue?
I LOVE the one right next to the picture of the tile floor….the subtle blue/green color is beautiful and the black and white flowers accent the floor really nicely in my opinion….hope that helps
I’m going with the options directly above or to the left of the love birds. (Magnolia blooms?)
But not the cherry blossoms, (as I interpret them) that are below. Too small and weenie for me.
The green on the bottom: I can’t figure it out. Hmmmm…. I’m leaning towards the red background / magnolia blooms (my terminology.) Love the punch of color.
I would like to request photos of the other colors in your house and where they occur. Thanks.
I’m with Susie – but the light blue – im not as daring as she
I REALLY like the first one. Hands down.
The cherry blossoms with the blue background. I LOVE that shade of blue. And here is a quick rundown of why the other options are sub-par.
1. #18, i.e. – the wallpaper my mom had in our guest house in the mid-80s. This is great wallpaper, for Dynasty.
2. #17 – At first glance, I think this is cute, but it has a very real “country” vibe lingering in the background that I’m not comfortable with. At all.
3. Lovebirds – yes, the lovebirds are cute, but the palette is atrocious. Why not get some pretty wallpaper and a picture of some lovebirds? Or better yet, get some actual lovebirds and put their cage in the bathroom. So many ways to be cute with lovebirds without going this route.
4. 5 through 9 – You really can’t go wrong with cherry blossoms. It’s young, hip and contemporary with a classic vibe. I favor the blue background, but in a pinch the red would do, although, the red might overpower the small blossoms, but then again, this is a powder room THE room where it is OK to be overpowering, cliché, funky, kitschy and maybe a little camp. I just refinished a vanity in this shade of blue. I love the vintage feel of this muted shade. Aahhh heaven.
#10 – Hello Laura Ashley circa 1992. ‘Nuff said. This is SO on the border of being chic, but it’s going to have to wait another 10 years. You are just ahead of your time, Jenika. This wallpaper has not caught up with you yet. If I saw this wallpaper in a newly remodeled house, I would think, “Cool house, why did they leave the original wallpaper?” This is wallpaper FAIL.
#11 – Love this. Love the green and the birds but I would love it infinitely more in a nursery. Or a dining room. I just don’t think that a powder room can do justice to this paper. It deserves a room of its own. It deserves color-coordinated cushions and drapes. It is that cute.
It is a toss up between the Magnolia in blue and the Cherry Blossums in blue with that punch of red.
I vote for Picture-11.png (the red one with the cherry blossoms on it that looks like it belongs in a Japanese massage parlor). It kinda says “Look man…I know its $150 for a massage, but you’re gonna have a good time”, ya know?
bottom left, red one.
Cherry blossoms, blue background please.
I was torn for awhile, between the bottom left and the top right. But I vote top right. But the red version is good too……
i LOVE them all, but my top pick has to be top right (magnolia on cerulean background). it calls to mind the magnolia tree in your front yard.
My vote goes to the last pic – Orange Birds…Green background…something about the orange wings with the grayish-blueish bodies…I can see some really cute towels of those colors in there too! 2nd pick is the “Cherry Blossoms” with the green background…aww I LOVE Powder Rooms!!
I’m leaning towards #11 for contrast, but i’m also liking #10 and 14 for zen like feel with just a hint of red here and there….࿊
Still liking the magnolias with blue background (top right).
Blue background with white and pink blossoms. Right column, second from bottom.
The top one blue and white flowers. opposite the floor pic.
I have the cherry blossom print in my bathroom sil.
this is fun!
did you made up your mind yet?….i’m wanna know…
I’m thinking 15, 18, or 12.
I love the top one on the right!!!
Bottom Right
10, 11 or 14! not really “a” vote, but you know me – love me some wallpaper.
